Do the NJ F16s use VHF a/a freqs anymore?? I usually only catch them when they are using the Duke MOA. I have 140.100, 140.175, 140.200, and 140.700 Havent had any action on them. Seems like they usually are on a few UHF chs. Anyone have logs with VHF?

BATON55 (EC-130J, 01-1935) did a quick flight to check and make sure the plane still works after not flying for almost 6 months, haha! This specific bird is mainly used for missions overseas, as it is the top bird of the fleet. Very rarely will you see it work the pattern other than locals.

I don't have anything about the NJ guys, but today, for the first time in a long time, the DC ANG F-16s were using VHF. They used 139.15/139.45/143.6, so maybe the F-16s will start using more VHF.

WRI K10A 86-0027, SLOG 96 (another new callsign), off WRI into W107. ZNY (128.300 LiveATC) advised Giant Killer was ATC Zero (no one was in the building) and the flight continued into W107 Due Regard. I'm guessing Giant Killer was evacuated for Covid cleaning ? The KACY feed was down so missed who they might have been working with in W107 ?

After SLOG 96 was done in W107 they were up on ZNY (133.500 LiveATC) requesting AR777 with WRI C-17 04-4131, GUMMY 62 (another new callsign). ATC was asking for the ID of the F-16s they were working in W107, it was DEVIL 11-12 and SATAN 11. Sounds like the typical training stuff, wonder why the new callsigns ?

2020- Acft 001 (unid) working Bay Watch (270.8 & 354.0) in some sort of tracking exercise. Headings being given from unid navigation points. Nothing showing on ADS-B in either filter.

I'm hearing him really well now RTB. STEELJAW1

STEELJAW02 finishing up as well. 354.0>318.8
Earlier I was reviewing some KMYR audio from last week and IDed AE538C as STEELJAW02 on that day.

Yes they still use the VHF along with UHF. I am at home in PA away from my notes right now.

There was another WRI K10A (85-0027) out and about using the callsign AGEING 17 (pronounced "AGE-ING", blank on ADS-B), hooked up with MAINE 88 on AR80 then came around to AR777 with SLOG 96 after they were done with GUMMY 62. Weird night for WRI callsigns.

Guys,

I've been e-mailing with a guy in Vermont about the VT ANG F-35 callsigns. He passed this on:

My wife works with the pilots in the “vault” top secret clearance. She said the call signs are based on what type of mission they are flying. That’s really all she can say.

Guess we knew that, but nice to have confirmation
