SAM 396 98-0002 from Ramstein goes missed approach on the first try for runway 19L at Andrews and circles back for another approach at 5:10 pm EDT.

On the second pass SAM 396 makes a full stop landing on the customary (non-Navy ;) ) VIP runway 19R.

Looking at the loadsheet, this appears to be a ferry flight with crew only.

Weather is good:

1414 - Someone on ZBW 323.000 requesting Viper, Base to FL300.

1418 - BLADE 1 flight of 2 104th FW F-15s entering Viper airspace, making airspace entry call on 226.300 and A-A on 264.850. Will be mainly in Tupper South.

1430 - Short stay for BLADE 1 flight, just called on 226.300, declaring they’re exiting the Tupper South MOA and RTB Barnes.

I stumbled across this page which I think ANY aviation fan will find interesting. All I have to say is SR71!

I can remember those SR-71 drivers in their orange flight suits in the late 1970s strutting around the RAF Mildenhall UK O'Club like they were Delta pilots or something. ;)

I don't think the orange flight suits lasted long, maybe four years, before some SAC General made them revert to green flight suits for cohesive unit identification or something.

AHH !!! The good od "Habus" In 1960-61 I was at Osan, Korea and we used to have some RF-101s from Okinawa come through every now and then to fly photo-recon missions along the South-North Korea border & off the Korean coasts. They called themselves the "Habu" (Japanese for snake).
