New mil-air listener in MD. Can you guys recommend a FAQ or Wiki I should become familiar with before asking too many questons?
Tnx,

My advice. Read the Forum posts that being put up and you should get a sense of what kind of stuff is "postable". Don't hesitate to ask any of us questions, etc.

I don't live too far away so anything I can hear you should be able to hear as well---depending on your equipment & antenna setup

I'm attaching my Mid Atlantic Milair freq list and military callsign list to get you started.

Flight tests since they are in rehab/upgrade
Wonder if they have company employees at L-3 who ride in the back and jump on the beds checking for squeaks and noises
and test everything else while flying? :)

Four more Dyess C-130J's headed Northeast with XXX callsigns from Texas like yesterday.
Dyess sure has a mess of them based down there.I think the other 4 are still at Bangor.

Also headed NW up into BC Canada KC-135 SKATER-08 and a SKATER-06 as well from Phoenix.
SKATER-08 used to be the old McGuire Alert CAP tanker callsign before they switched to 99.

@Mark you know beds aren't a major focus of the administration, now how cold the ice cream is that's another story. :ROFLMAO:
Lots of sleep needed though. Maybe they added a soft ice cream machine :)
Correction to my post above McGuire Alert CAP tanker way back in the day
was SKATER-07. Close but no cigar :)
Wonder if SKATER-06,08 were called for other Alert NORAD ADIZ backup duty up North.

There has recently been some visitors up that way.Maybe expecting more.

VC-25A 92-9000, radio callsign VENUS 02, does a maintenance test flight (or possibly a post-maintenance acceptance flight from the callsign) out of Kelly Field, Texas with a touch and go before landing back at SKF. ADS-B ident is PLAY66S.

Re the flight today, looks like they’ve used VENUS02 c/s in the past for test flights.

They certainly have. I was guessing that the VENUS callsign meant that the flight was operated by SAM pilots rather than Boeing pilots but I'm not sure. That PLAY66S ADS-B ident did display early in today's flight but it might have been an FMS placeholder typed by maintenance for the earlier flight.

Monday morning in Florida could be a big day 08:33 local but even NASA Assoc Director says odds
are Artemis could scrub for a variety of reasons. Course a link to a Artemis Estes model rocket and you can launch your own.
That brings back memories. LOL

SWATH-99 McGuire KC-10 in the CAP this morning.Guess filling in for no show tanker.
There was a SWATH-20 KC-135 that showed in Pease early this morning but never got off the ground.

VIP for Monday Artemis launch?

As AF2 and the other VIP aircraft arrive for the launch it will be interesting to see which runways they use. In the past the Shuttle Landing Facility, the Canaveral Space Force Station Skid Strip and Patrick AFB have hosted AF1, AF2, Elon Musk's bizjet and others.
