Guys,

For most of this afternoon on 118.4 (Andrews tower) I'm hearing what sounds like an approach/departure freq from the New York area. I'm hearing several foreign pilots and mentions of passing LaGuardia.Must be ducting.

Guys,

1531 EST- Acft are chatting about a ramp freeze at ADW

Looks like it was for AF2--Mode S showing C-37 06-0500 departing ADW. A downgrade for Joe--he usually flies a C-32.

From my logs yesterday:

1106 EST- CG 6605 (HH-65C CGAS Wash)-landing at Easton MD & securing radio guard w/CG Sector Baltimore (157.15).

1419 EST- Colt 45 (A-10C, 104th FS MD ANG MTN)-w/BW (264.55) for entry into R-4002 for maintenance test flt.

Hey, thanks! Note that all the -65s have been re-designated as multi-mission helos, so the MH prefix has replaced the HH. Also, CGAS Atlantic City provides the det for CGAS Washington, and they operate the Deltas, so MH-65D is the proper aircraft description.

Anyway, I was out at Easton again yesterday, and there was a Navy -60 doing pattern work in crappy visibility...

I'm curious where are you seeing the 6605 info as a C? The next question is where are you seeing 6605 as assigned to CGAS Washington? The Blackjack helicopters rotate in from New Jersey thus not permanently assigned, and all the AirSta Atlantic City's Dauphins are -Ds. That's not to say that all the -Cs have be updated to the -D standard (almost complete,) but it's unusual to have mixed types within the air stations except in the very early stage of transitioning to a new type. But it's not impossible.

Ok,

So apparently when I photographed it in July (at Hains Point in DC) it was just after the upgrade, as the database I searched showed it as a C at the time.

Here is my photo.
US Coast Guard - TimWolfe

Now searching the same database today it shows it as a -D and assigned to Kodiak, AK.

That database does show 1 -C left in Atlantic City and that's 6595.

WV ANG 167th AW transition to C-17's

The unit received their first C-17 yesterday afternoon, tail number 94-0070. Used the callsign Elvis 53 on the flight from it's former base in Memphis to Martinsburg. Sorry for the late post, been having intermittent computer problems.

The second C-17 is 01-0196

Fighter types on 315.85 refueling with a C-130, maybe 160626 showing DILDO69.
Sound like British pilots using the callsigns QE1 and QE2.

Travis,

Here's what I heard:

1349- Lightening 62 (F-35 JSF, VX-20 PAX)-w/BW (256.5 & 305.2) requesting R-4006 from FL200-FL450. Advises they will need vertical descent to join up with the tanker. Working w/Score 59 (prob KC-130R # 160626 VX-20 PAX).

Lightening definitely said Score 59--so Dildo 89 must be some maintenance guys warped sense of humor.

I have 315.85 listed as a Langley A-A

I wonder what's going on with that Charlie. Maybe the DB is in error?... Anyway, I looked around for some publicly releasable info about the rollout of the Deltas, and found something in an acquisition newsletter from 2011:

"MH-65D Locations
Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., received the first production MH-65D aircraft in January and just received its seventh and eighth MH-65Ds earlier this month. The station is scheduled to receive its ninth and final MH-65D in early June [2011]."

"“Traditionally, aircraft are over- hauled every four years regardless," Campbell explained.
“But when you’re transitioning to a new model aircraft and all the logistics support that goes with it—the transition training and all the parts and pieces that you need to support it—it’s obviously much more efficient to do one full unit at a time,” he noted.

“We’ve been following this unit- by-unit transition model from re-engining through the MH-65Cs and now as we transition into the Deltas. We’ve changed the model so that we do one air station at a time and do the whole unit because it is simply much more effective to tran- sition a whole unit at once,” he said."

Does anyone know what type of aircraft this is Pat1266 AFED4. I noticed this on virtual radar the past few days and it shows as military. I couldn't locate anything that would identify it online.
