Storing Trunk Group's on 246T

OK, since the directions suck that came with the radio or I'm one beer to many into programing this radio I have a question. I have my local MOT type2 system frequencies stored and am using the ID search option to locate my ID's. When an ID appears I press enter to do that quick save and then edit the name. Now when I search my system and that ID name appears I have scrolling on the to of the the display Qck Save Grp. Does this always stay? or how do I make it go away?

First, DON'T DO WHAT ROB SUGGESTED!

The unit always stores quick saved IDs in the Quick Save group. IF you rename it, it will create another group with the same name in which to store them and you will be back at square one. COPY the TG IDs to another group where you have set the name. Quick save IDs will ALWAYS save in the quick save group.

Guess that depends on what he wants to do with the ID's he saved. He didn't refer to "future" ID's, he wanted the group name changed for the ones he entered... In that case, you would change the name of the group.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try to rename the groups. I've been quick saving them as they pop up. Now I just wanted to get rid of that scroll.

Just keep in mind that the next one you save will end up in the same Quick Save group. The scanner will recreate it. It would be better to copy them into an appropriate group (Police, Fire, Etc) so you can find them easier later on, and clear your quick save group for the new ones.

I didn't mean to sound so harsh to Rob. It's just that renaming the group won't solve the problem until you've saved all the groups you want to, and I didn't want to see a post "I've renamed it, but it was changed back" (or something similar) come up. I wish the scanner would know the new name of the 'quick save group', but it's not that smart. :-\
