Ok, i like to use the custom scan on my 396t to just roll through all the freqs. I can. I keep landing on 927.8000 with a good signal and it always sounds like somebody snoring! What could this be, a baby monitor (snoring does NOT sound like a child) ? I looked all over to see what this freq is used for and can't find a thing.

On a side note the super bowl traffic on MPSCSS has been great, all sorts of stuff going on. Is private security on this system? it sure sounds like it.

PS whoever has that tower/repeater at 696 and schoenherr sure did a great job with that lit XL at the top, looks great.

Hi, 'J' - this info may shed some light on what you are hearing in your area... there are a couple possibilities. Amateur Radio uses that frequency as well as some of the older GE cordless phones ( GE Model 2-9925 for instance). The first link below shows an example of general frequency usage in the 33 CM spectrum, as well as others, by this particular operator and club. The second link is a recap of some cordless phone frequencies still in use...

Thanks for the info! I was thinkng something along those lines, except the problem is that it is always transmitting 24/7. Should that be the case, I wold hate to have that phone bill! The other problem with it being 33cm is that I left it on for over an hour and there were no station id's broadcast the intire time. I don't think you can do that..

I'm going to investigate further, maybe take a drive on my day off and find it..

That might explain it! Some amateur radio operator got bored, and fell asleep...and is resting his head on the PTT button as he snores away!

Just did some additional research...while I was not able to locate a site which lists the specific RF frequencies authorized, I was able to determine that some of the newest wireless Baby Monitors from Fisher-Price and others are also operating in the 33CM spectrum and possibly on 927.800. The data is a little sparse..., but at least we're getting closer...

I hear "room" monitors and cordless phones on all thru ham radio 900 mhz band. Hear 'em all the time while I'm driving around. There's no 900 mhz ham repeaters in Macomb, closest one to Warren is in Davisburg.

Yep it's a monitor of some kind...used for medical reasons instead of babies(I head an actual consersation today, I'm an EMT and I knew what the nurse was talking about.). Pretty strong signal too, good for a 6 block radius.

Next project is to figure out what the transmitter actually is!

Thanks for the help guys, apparently Google failed me this time :)

It prolly is Dad, who got up earlier to quiet the baby and is now slumped over the crib side sawing logs! Ha! ;)
