Since the beginning of the 2008 Year County departments of Strathcona slowly migrated their existing VHF/UHF radios to the new multi-site county-wide LTR radio system. County EMS/Fire switched this month
As of last night most of the original conventional EMS/Fire UHF repeaters merged with the LTR system.
From what I can make of this new LTR system, it’s large and complex using some strange LTR Multi-point repeater zoned assignment…
Using decoding software I’m able to figure out channel orders, talk groups and radios ID’s but why. If I can’t monitor the system with my scanner or use a computer software assisted radio it’s pointless.
On this new system I have heard
• Fire
• EMS
• Bylaw (photo radar….)
• Transit
• Parks and Rec
• Roadways
• Patch to Fort Saskatchew, Riley.......
• Building inspectors
• Drainage
• RCMP (supervisor on portable)
To continue mutual aid support (dispatch) to surrounding communities as Fort Saskatchewan and Riley…. Some sort of radio gateway was installed to maintain inoperability with conventional repeaters.
