Good morning,

Just got an SDS100 and I’m wondering if there’s a way to stream audio through my LAN? Example: My radio and antenna are in a building 200 feet from my house. I have cat5e coming from there to a switch in the house. Is there a device I can connect to the scanner that will allow me to do this?

Awesome. I’ve got proscan running. Ideally, I’d like to leave the scanner and antenna in my outbuilding and access the feed through the PC inside the house. The way I’m reading the response is that the scanner should be connect directly to my PC? Does the scanner have web gui? I’m not a smart person and I understand my limitations. Try to type more slowly so I can understand it better 😂. Sorry, I’m brand new.

Is there a pc in the building? Pretty sure since the Sds100 does not have a LAN port, you would use the USB cable for scanner control and the headphone jack to carry the audio.

No PC in the building. Just a POE switch. However, the switch runs to a PC in my house. I figured I’d be using the usb port for audio and transmission to the PC in the house?

AFAIK, there is no way to connect a network cable to the SDS100. Option could be get a cheap pc and use usb cable for scanner control, and line in to headphone jack to carry audio.

Excuse my ignorance. But, how do I connect the SDS100 to the PI?

Think what the op posted is for just streaming audio. For scanner control, the scanner would need to be connected to @ProScan via the usb cable.

Correct. I’m just after audio. If I can use proscan through the Poe switch that’s cool too.

Use any cheap USB sound card from Amazon plugged into the Pi with audio cable from it to the 3.5 audio out on the SDS100.
Gotcha. The picture looks like the 3.5 mm cable was going from the PI to the USB sound card also on the pi.

Just my $0.02: if you are going to jump through these hoops to get audio across the network to the house, put zellostream on the pi and broadcast to a Zello channel.. you can then monitor the channel on the PC in the house. Other advantages: Audio delay in milliseconds rather than minutes; Listen on any mobile device or PC with internet access anywhere in the world; Shut down the PC in the house and just use a retired wifi-connected smart phone to listen (save a few watthours).

Another avenue to explore. My antenna, coax and connectors are on the way.

It is very simple you connect the SDS200 to your computer network PROSCAN running on your PC in your house on the same network connects to the scanner and passes the DISPLAY and the AUDIO through the network to your PC.
1 Scanner
1 PC Running PROSCAN
1 Network
JOB DONE
You can do anything through the network that you can do at the scanner.

Cool. My antenna is located in my shed. I have a switch out there running to another switch and pc in the house. I’m using an sds100.

Then you will have to have a PC in the shed and tie the SPK out to the LINE IN then remote
This is what you can do with 1 PC and 1 COPY of PROSCAN.
