• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I recently acquired a Stridsberg multicoupler. Rather than screwing it to the wall behind my scanners I opted to build a mount that hooked onto the shelf supports so I could reposition it if necessary. It’s made of scrap aluminum I had in the shop. I couldn’t find any specs on the Stridsberg web site showing the mounting screw spacing. Turns out it’s about 125mm x 36mm. The holes for the screws were drilled and tapped 8-32.

I have my MCA204M Stridsberg multicoupler mounted inside the wall in my family room. I cut a hole in the drywall and installed a 3-gang plastic electrical box. I drilled holes in a blank metal cover plate so that the 4 BNC connectors of the multicoupler come through the plate. The coupler is mounted to the cover plate with homemade brackets. There is also a jack on the cover plate to plug in the 12v power supply for the coupler. I have a 25' LMR-400 cable run from the attic antenna which comes down through the wall into the back of the electrical box. My scanners are in a bookcase at the end of a couch. I used hole saws to cut access holes into the side of the bookcase which is about 6" from the cover plate. There are 3' RG58 cables from the coupler to the 4 scanners. There is an AC strip mounted on the side of the bookcase for the power adapters. All of the antenna and power cables are routed through the access holes in the bookcase and are run behind the scanners. There is also another AC power strip on a lower shelf of the bookcase for a 5 output USB power supply, a Unication amplified charger, and any other power adapters I may need for other scanners.
