• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

By default with no modifications it mainly covers 28.000 - 29.700 (and 24.890 – 24.990) as it’s sold as a 10 meter Ham radio.
After the modification it will cover 25.615 - 30.105 which will cover most of the 10 / 11 / 12 meter bands. (CB is 11 meter)

Full chart is here:
The CB band would be Band D (26.965 - 27.405 = channels 1 - 40)

Is it a good radio, I'm considering getting 1, also can a guy do the conversion that they talk about?
It’s subjective. Some love them, some don’t. Honestly the Radioddity QT60 Pro has all the same features for half the price and is easy to modify yourself (see youtube). Everybody locally here with a Stryker paid to have theirs converted, so i don’t know what's required to do it on a Stryker.

The video i posted above shows you how to do it. Solder in a jumper wire, then push and hold some buttons and power on. Done.

The 955HPC+ is the latest version (v3) with extra power, features, and improvements that aren’t found on the older versions. A quick Amazon / eBay / g00gle search of the will tell you the specific changes/additions the new version has.

The Stryker 955HPC+ claims it does 100 watts, so i wouldn’t recommend using anything less than a 20 amp power supply to be safe.

Why would you want to? The 955hpc+ already does 100 watts. Unless you have a high drive 500 watt or larger amp nobody will notice on the receiving end anyway. Also the Stryker would more than likely smoke a low drive linear that’s designed for 2-5 watts input, and if it does you risk ruining your radio also.

This will help explain how linear amps and RF power works in more in detail. Adding a linear amplifier! How Much Will It Increase My Signal?
