I was reading a PDF on how to setup my BCD536 to listn over the internet.

Steps I've taken include;
Going into my router, reserving the IP and enabling port forwarding.

I have tried both the local IP and outside IP.

I have checked that the port is open using "canyouseeme.org" (it works).
I'm using the wifi dongle that came with the BCD536 and I'm using THAT IP but even when switching everything around, i.e., assign port forwarding to the PC instead of the scanner, none of it seems to work.

I've even double checked and make sure Proscan is allowed thru the Windows firewall.

I'm stumped.

Are you able to setup the ProScan webserver so that you can access your scanner on your local LAN through the local IP address? If you haven't already, verify that part is setup and working properly before attempting port forwarding out to the WAN. You should be accessing the IP address of the computer that is running ProScan as well as the port number that you have set in the ProScan webserver.

Right now, I'm at the Web Server tab, clicked on the Start button, attempted to log in with either local or outside IP, with and without the port number appended, on both my pc and my cellphone (on the carrier's network and not my local wifi), no dice.

Click on the "Get My IP" button in Proscan, start the Webserver and be certain there are no errors upon startup.

With your PC connected to your Lan, use the IP address and the port number (as circled) in the address bar of your browser, try both formats...

(From this example)... 192.168.0.100:5000 or http://192.168.0.100:5000 or https://192.168.0.100:5000 depending on your settings in the Secure (HTTPS) tab in the webserver.

Ah, wait a minute. I was entering the IP address in the browser without appending the "http".

Now it works.

Thank you!

Now port forward port 5000 in your router from your local IP address to your outside IP address and use http://your.out.side.ipaddress:5000

note.... your router/firewall/browser may not allow outside connections from a non secure "http" address. You may have to get a secure certificate to use an "https" address.

I've already done that. What I was doing wrong all along was not entering "http" before the actual ip address. I've tried it after reading your instructions more closely.

Before when I was attempting to log in, I was noticing the browser stuck trying to resolve the address.

Nowadays I'm so used to just entering text in the URL bar of the browsers that I forgot some URL's look for the "http" still.

Again, big thanks!
