Dumb question. But by providing the PL tones for the systems, in ways are you not asking unauthorized people to key up on the system? Would it be possible just to post them w/o the PL tones? Again if this has been asked before forgive me.

Not necessarily. Some systems can use different PL tones on the output of the repeater than for the input, but this seems to be the exception rather than the rule. PL tones are most useful for receiving while scanning mobile in order to reduce interference and unwanted static.

Let's not digress too far onto that topic and keep this thread focused on any questions or comments related to the frequency updates and additions.

When I maintained a western Colorado database online, a communications supervisor for one of the counties I had on my site requested that I take the inputs to the repeaters and subaudible tones off of my site. I pointed out that I had at least 4 radios that would decode the tone they were using within seconds of them keying up and that the inputs to the repeaters were public information on the FCC site.
The other point is that if someone wants to screw up the repeater traffic, keying up on the input to the repeater with no tone or the wrong tone is going to do more to block the legitimate traffic that having someone with the right tone in their radio.
Having the tones on the database makes it nice for the modern scanners and in many urban settings is the only way to be able to enjoy the traffic you are trying to listen to without excessive interference.

edit: I think the thread is getting hijacked!
I have not been to Summit to listen for a while, frequencies look right but can't comment on usage.....

I saw some updates in the DTRS database for Summit County Ambulance. Is Summit County going digital?

No plans for DTRS Steve, just a few ambulance 800MHz radios mainly for mutual aid currently.
