There are four divisions within the Department. The management of felons and selected misdemeanants committed by the court are divided between the Division of Probation and Parole and the Division of Adult Institutions. The Division of Offender Rehabilitative Services provides program services to felons assigned to probation, parole or prison. All staff related activities and special program services are provided through the Division of Human Services.
There are also a limited number of custody level 2 minimum security units located within higher custody facilities. These are located at Moberly Correctional Center, Centeral Missouri Correctional Center, Fulton Reception & Diagnostic Center, Western Reception & Diagnostic and Correctional Center, Housing Unit #7 of Jefferson City Correctional Center, Camp Hawthorn and Potosi Correctional Center

Camp Hawthorn

Terry,

Cam Hawthorn at Kaiser, MO. has been closed for several years. It was a DOC facility that held minimum security inmates that provided inmate labor at Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Camp Hawthorn was closed due to budget cuts and the facilies are not currently occupied. Camp Hawthorn facilities are actually owned by the Department of Natural Resources and it is classified as a group camp; one of many at LOZ State Park. It was a good program; it was shame to see it go. Also, Camp Hawthorn was considered a sub-unit of Ozark Correctional Center in Fordland, MO.
