I originally didn't want to comment on this thread as
@n6hcm already made the point, but will add some additional explanation now as it got new attention lately.
its just a hobby so theres other radios to play with those can go back in the closet no biggy lol
It's a hobby for you. But we are a business and, as other software vendors and your favorite scanner dealer too, have to comply with laws, regulations and avoid unnecessary risks.
Payment is one of the most heavily regulated sectors we have in the Western world, and I think for good reasons. One example in that regard is that it always has to be clear where a payment comes from: Having one person ordering and getting the payment from another person (or third party) surly raises questions. Although that's less of a problem in this case.
The other aspect are unnecessary risks: PayPal works like credit cards with regard to chargebacks. For example, if your wife is mad at you and therefore issues a chargeback for our software saying she didn't authorize the transaction, it's questionable if we could successfully object to that. Because your wife is the official PayPal account owner and we never communicated with her (we did all communication with you only). That risk can be eliminated if the purchaser and account owner is the same person. That's why many companies have this policy too.
Honestly, I don't understand what the big deal with creating an own PayPal account is – it's basically a matter of a few minutes. We sell RadioControl for over 20 years now, also to hundreds of customers using PayPal and never had such an issue.
You may also want to consult the PayPal agreement to see if they allow account sharing at all. That's also a risk you would avoid with creating an own PayPal account. Plus additional privacy regarding your purchases, which may even add to family peace when looking at the amount that some of the radio hobby gear (especially radio devices such as the IC-R8600) costs.
A word to wire transfers: We strongly discourage going that route because in the international context they are quite expensive (~25 USD!) and a source of new frustration if you do that the first time. That's why we only offer them to organizations, which usually deal which them daily and the order amount is considerably higher, making them a good alternative to PayPal.
So our offer stands: If you create your own PayPal account, we can go forward with the purchase. Otherwise, we have to leave your order alone and cancel it.
I hope this explanation clarifies why this policy exists.
Ralf
