We on the Utah Fourm have been discussing and trying to understand the codes in the CT column, status bits, and patches. From other posts we understand what the status bits mean. What we do not get is their relation to the CT column and TG numbering.

Do the status bits show up as the codes in the CT column? or. . .

Do the status bits show up as a new TG? i.e. ID+2 is Emergency

What would be a patch that connects the same TG?

The patches i found so far are
XP = crosspatch between 2 talk groups and
MP = multiple cross patch between 2 or more.

I think i saw EM once but cant remember.

Hi Rolf;

Yes - the CT or call type column is taken from the status bits on a type II system. Deeke's basically got it. XP for cross patch and MS for multi-select. Em is emergency.

EXP for emergency cross patch. EMS for emergency multi-select. Dig for digital (probably encrypted). You can guess the meanings of DXP and DMS.

You need to create a band plan. Refer to this.

From the main menu ... nsert -> andplan ... fill out the base frequency, offset and step size. Alt-S to save. Repeat the process three times to complete the table.

It is possible for bandplans to be site specific. I think Fleetnet uses the same plan. There is a "push to all sites" menu option. After you've filled out the table - use that to zap it across all sites in that system.

crosspatches and multiselects are similar but are NOT the same.

crosspatches logically link multiple talkgroups into one "supergroup" (this is the group you hear the talkgroup on when it is transmitting. usually +3 from the base tgid (for Motorola 3600 systems) for one of the groups included in the patch). Anybody txing on one of the included groups is heard by all of the other groups.

multiselects are "one-way" in nature: the dispatcher is heard on all the included talkgroups, but each talkgroup remains separate. These are usually +7 from the base tgid. (for Motorola 3600 systems).

Both patches and multiselects can include multiple talkgroups; patches can also link phone calls into the patch group. There is a limit of 20 resources per group (either Multiselect or Crosspatch). But, there can be multiple groups at each console.

So in Beta 13 status bits do not create a new TG? because the CT column takes care of them?

Yes. You may occasionally see an odd number talkgroup where the program has difficult distinguishing a Type II system (or block) from the Type I or hybrid system where the status bits are instead part of the radio id.
