Has anyone ever used a Tait TP9400 which is a phase 1 and phase 2 radio from down under making its way into the USA to scan a motorola smartzone system? I even had to order the programming cable from down under and that took about 8 days to get here.

To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Can't comment on scanner use, but I have demo'ed one on our Astro 25 7.16 800 system and it's a bulletproof radio. Going to have about 20 used by a small state agency who use our system.
Not sure why you are dealing with "down under" as Tait is now sold by L3Harris here in the US, and they fully support them. Our hardware and software system keys were shipped from Melbourne, FL not AU. Demos came from our local L3Harris dealer.

Well at the time I needed the programming cable and the only place that i could find it to program it was down under. I agree with you that it is a bulletproof radio and once i get it programed to monitor our MD First system having to program it so it will NOT affiliate at all. Commercial radios sure as heck make for a better scanner then IMHO then what uniden or whister are putting out. I am surrounded by 700/800 phase 1 and phase 2 systems plus a few leftover smartzone systems as well.

The TP9400 Tait radio is not a bad radio at all. I would compare it to an APX4000 to APX6000 type radio. Of course how you program it so it will not affiliate is a little bit different plus you need to find the software or contact a tait dealer to have the phase 1 and phase 2 unlocked unless you want to look the software that has hacked all the radio extras and add system keys unless you do the non motorola affiliate programming. Their is a form that is listed down under telling you how to do the programming and not needing a system key for phase 1 and 2. Otherwise I think this unit would give M a run for their money. I did also add a quarter wave antenna for $22 that does receive better then the little stubby antenna that comes with it in the 700/800mhz band. If anyone has any questions shoot me a PM... Do i recommend them yes i do
If anybody in the Dallas Fort Worth metro area has a TP9400 id like to check it out. Doubt there will be but doesnt hurt to put it out there.
Can you share any info on the TP9500? Also is Tait going to come out with a radio that will do 700/800 plus VHF and or UHF as well or both?

Tait is not new to the USA at all. They've been here for at least 20+ years that I know of.
And it's one of the radios that we use now out in the field that the guys can't kill. They hold up.
Yes they do. Since I have gotten my Tait TP9435K Radio It seems to me nothing can kill it and it keeps right on going.

I have Tp9400 was any one able to program Smartzone system into it and was it hard to do
If I have tait radio thats already programmed with the system info, will I be able to read the radio on my programmong software and just rewrite it to my radios. We purchased tp9400 so we could have better communication with our neighboring FD who has the tp9400 and I'm hoping the programming can be done that way.
Yes, you should be able to just read the radio and program the others as far as I know... I have only had one Tait TM9155 that was a couple years newer than the others we had that I had to read the radio first then import the programming. We have had the TM9100 series mobiles and TP9100 handhelds for probably 10 years with little problems for our Fire Dept. We have around a dozen TP9400's we've had for a couple years the only problem we had was the batteries wouldn't hold charge very long compared to the9100's but the dealer replaced them all for us and haven't had any more trouble
Good solid radios! We switched from Motorolas because of poor customer service and haven't looked back...
Would you be able to help with programming them we have the software and cable we have our channels in them but for some reason we can't get smart zone in we have TM 9155 TP 9100 and TP 9400 just looking need little help to where the talk groups go
Do you have the proper system key and other unique ID numbers for the other radios? You cant just copy the programming over and hope it will work. You might need to talk to whom ever programs the other FDs radios.
How in the world did you get the Tait TP9400 to work on a smartzone system? I was told it will not do a smartzone system and ONE THING you DO NOT WANT TO DO AT ALL!!! is it affiliate to the smartzone system... So how did you do it?????
