Might sound like a dumb question but here it goes
I noticed on the trunk system in RR Database that cover's my area when I look at The talk group's some are highlighted in blue so I can click on them and login to broadcastify and listen to live or archives for different agencies some are highlighted and some aren't. However I was noticing that one police departments I'd is sometimes highlighted and sometimes it's not so I can't listen to them. I don't know much about this just wondering what this is called and why talk groups are sometimes highlighted and sometimes not ?

Those blue talk groups are part of the "Broadcastify Calls" platform. Basically, every transmission from that talk group should be in the ingest server. When you click on that blue TGID, you'll only hear audio from that Talk Group.

Some are highlighted and others aren't because not all of the Talk Groups are part of the program. Most likely nobody is listening to them, or they are not available due to the type of channel (Tac vs Dispatch)

There is more info here: Broadcastify Calls

If sometimes it's blue and sometimes it's not, that means that calls are available within the past 24 hours when it's blue, not available iif it's not blue.

Which means: a node is capturing the talkgroup, and then it isn't (either offline or no coverage)

Another stupid question..
What is a node ?

the only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask : ))

basically, each site within a trunked system can be its own "node" for that system. volunteers can feed broadcastify calls using an SDR receiver device and a handful of software options by programming the software to decode what the SDR receiver is picking up from a site. after it is decoded, recordings are sent to broadcastify calls. not a great explanation but someone else can pbly chime in with better!
