Hi. I’m fairly new to scanning. I have a WS 1040, digital trunking scanner. I don’t know how to find/calculate talkgroup IDs/alpha tags. Could anyone offer some help? I’d greatly appreciate it.

Most if not all of that information should be found in the database section. Start with the applicable state, then go to county, then locate the system of interest.

I'm not that familiar with your model of scanner. If it was Uniden, I'd say to use the dec which is decimal, rather than the hex numbers.

It says “edit Hex Key” I just don’t know what number to input.

What programming software are you using? Everything I am familiar with uses decimal talkkgroup ID's for the WS1040.
Looking at your photos, while you have selected the talkgroups, it appears you have not selected any sites. You must select at least one site before you can import.
