Sometimes the Tampa PD copter is literally over our neighborhood, but they still don't show up on dump1090/Virtual Radar Server. I'm decoding directly over the air. I wonder if maybe they're not on 1090 MHz.
Even the sheriff chopper shows up from further away at lower altitudes.

SkyVector: Flight Planning / Aeronautical Charts This is a VFR chart for the KTPA area. If you notice in various places there will be a red box saying "ATC CLEARANCE REQUIRED" and instructions to contact Tampa Approach Control, or TRACON on a frequency specific for that area.

By filtering on ADS-B Exchange - tracking thousands of aircraft, I figured out the Tampa PD chopper is using something called "UAT / ADS-R". Anyone know what frequency that's on?
