OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Traffic on Interstate 880 through Oakland
is expected to be jammed throughout the morning after a crash
involving a gasoline tanker truck and a car.
Both sides of the freeway are closed near downtown Oakland after
a crash a little after 6:00 this morning involving the big rig and
a car.
The impact from the crash ignited the 8,600 gallons of gas being
hauled by the truck, sending flames high into the air.
Firefighters using foam were able to put the fire out after a
little more than an hour.
Police say the truck driver was able to escape the crash unhurt.
No other injuries were reported.

This time it's not under an over-crossing.

At least this incident will only require a stretch of repaving which might be completed by tomorrow instead replacing an entire overcrossing. Made for some interesting Oakland CHP traffic this morning.

EDIT: Fortunately, the damage to the roadway surface wasn't an extensive as it could have been and CALTRANS had all lanes of southbound 880 repaved and open by this evening.
