Don't forget Indiana railroad on their Dispatch channel 160.620
I got that one programmed and thing is sometimes there quite at night on communications . I'll seat at the CSX Railroad not near it like in the Car and 15 feet away it's on the Safety Guidelines , so thing is that I don't understand why can't hear them at night time on communications . Someone told don't be afraid to ask people questions and that why got to these questions about things I don't know.

There isn't as much rail traffic at night as you'd think. Also only your bigger yards do a lot of work 24/7. Shortlines sometimes don't even run after dark, and some only run 2, maybe 3 days out of the week. Up here in Indy it's slower at night, but always something running. Except on Sundays when it's hit or miss. Yardwise we have the "Big 4" in Avon, and the small Hawthorne here, and constant switch work on the belt.

CSX crews will occasionally jump over to AAR46/160.800 for switching if the road channels are busy.
I agree with you on that . So I ask a CSX Worker that I know personally but he told me that they use all CSX Channels and The Indiana Railroad Channels , but he said be easy probably program all CSX and The Indiana Railroad Channels into the Radios . He said sometimes you might not hear them do to how far there out or you might be out far somewhere , also he said that they been having problems there self on longer ways when worked at night or day shifts . Like he said that normal things , but everything will be alright . Can't give the Radios they use because get into trouble but that all I know personally

Most run Kenwood/JVC NX series HT's, with a few very Motorola HT's not gone the way of the dodo yet. The Kenwood's are pretty good radios.
