here is my concern I installed tetra listener [...]

but this software has nothing to do with tetra-listener (both are based on patches to osmo-tetra, but that's about it).

i haven't looked at that code much, but their patches to osmo-tetra shouldn't be too hard to apply to osmo-tetra-sq5bpf, so you could use both software at the same time. if you know some C, then this should be doable, if not then forget it. anyway you're on your own

sq5bpf,

After your wonderful USB install i like to learn more so install Mint 17.3 and GNUradio.
The problem is,
when install telive_1ch_simple_gr37.grc i only get ones the FTT+Freq screen pop up.
After that one time it never pop up again.

I used this tutorial to instal all the goodies

sudo wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sq5bpf/telive/master/scripts/install_telive.sh
sudo chmod 755 install_telive.sh
./install_telive.sh
Running the Software
1. Open a terminal window and browse to
2. ~/tetra/osmo-tetra-sq5bpf/src and run ./receiver1 1.
3. cd ~/tetra/osmo-tetra-sq5bpf/src
./receiver1 1
4. Open a second terminal window or tab and open a specially sized xterm window
using the following.
/usr/bin/xterm -font fixed -bg black -fg white -geometry 203x60
5. In the xterm window, browse to ~/tetra/teliveand run ./rxx.
6. cd ~/tetra/telive
./rxx
7. Open another terminal window or tab and browse to /tetra/bin and run ./tetrad.
8. cd /tetra/bin
./tetrad
9. Open another terminal window or tab and open GNU Radio Companion by typing the
following.
gnuradio-companion
10. In GNU Radio open the telive_1ch_simple_gr37.grc file which is found in
~/tetra/telive/gnuradio-companion.

For some reason i am unable to edit the Freq, gains or any other functions in the flow chart screen,It just fades out within 30 secs of launching,While i cannot make any changes to it,It still does not stall,As the spectrum analyzer still moves.

Output is showing as 000000 continuous.

I can edit the values if i have the USB dongle disconnected,But that is not much good.

Hello sq5bpf,

After play for days with your wonderfull USB solution, appreciating that USB solution very much,
i install MINT 17.3 and GNUradio with telive on a new HDD.
Working is oke no problem with that.

Days and many deep nighty hours i try to make those 4x easy startup icons you made in USB solution,
try all kind of ways and settings but i get stuck in it...

A small hint or tip how you make those 4x easy startup icons, that will be great
In behave i thank you for any hints or tips

new tetra frontier

thank you very much sq5bpf

could not believe that buzzing noise become meaningful , thanks for redefining the frontiers of SDR technology my good friend.

i am using your bootable image , to my wonder the telive demo works easily and i am able to listen to lots of traffic in my country "will be sending your logs privately" my machine is COMPAQ I3 . and works nearly ok.

if i try to run telive using the terminal/exterm launch procedure , nothing happens.

but too much fun indeed, learned linux which was totally another universe for me.

once again thanks for your self and all other members who did light up the dark with their experiments.

No way

Hello sq5bpf,,
For linux users, do you know a way if possible to use GQRX to pipe the audio into telive ?
GQRX having a more user friendly Gui to use the 'older' or 'none wizzkids" hamradio user.
Gqrx SDR – A software defined radio powered by GNU-Radio and Qt

I have already asked this question and the answer is no . At this time no one has the answer to make GQRX or Cubicsdr a front end to TETRA decoding .

There is a good way running now for 4 or 5 years , using QTHID 4.0 or 4.1 with funcube and funcube pro + with osmo tetra . I think it is the best and easiest way to decode TETRA

Maybe one day ....

this is not a linux support group.

look for files with the .desktop extension, you will probably have then in the ~/Desktop directory. this is a simple text file, the format is probably described somewhere (but is self-descriptive, so not really needed)

not sure what you mean by "fades out", but most probably you have either of these problems:

- you are using the version with pipes and ran everything in the wrong order (first run receiver1, and then the gnuradio-companion flowgraph. re-run receiver1 every time you want to run the flowgraph again). usually the flowgraph stalls after some time. please use the udp version (receiver1udp and the appropriate flowgraphs), as ths doesn't require the software to be launched in any particular order

- you have some problems with communication with the rtl dongle. either you have the drivers used for watching TV loaded (this is possible if you followed some strange install procedure), or you're using a bad usb port (there are sometimes problems with usb 3.0 ports, and with some usb hubs), or you're using this under a virtual machine

maybe you could try the bootable usb version and see if the problem persists?

someone tryed or, there is anny chance to use telive on raspberry pi 3 ? br'

Hi, i'm using raspi 3 with lubuntu and works fine (with low profile udp graph and without spectrums). The only two problems you have with raspi 3 are:
1- embedded soundcard don't work, have to buy a external usb soundcard (is cheap, 1 or 2 euros)
2-If you want to use a 3.5 inch screen whith SDIO, you only see a minimum part of telive rxx

But to only ear when you know the frecuency, works fine

Sorry for my english

Xterm window,
possible startup with larger Bold font size in the message window ?

you can change the font in the shortcut that launches the window (-fn FONT_NAME), or you can ctrl-right click on the xterm window, and click the font that you want (Large would be probably the most that will fit on the screen).

btw this is not a linux support group, there's plenty of this on the internet

GRC slowing computer

Hello to all

I need some help please, because since a few days, my computer becomes very slow when running Telive;
I can hardly navigate with firefox, or use VLC ; before that i could easily use both (even playing HD videos on Youtube, while running Telive )

At first , i started to get very large fifo files in the tmp directory; then Telive stopped when the size finally exceeded my remaining diskspace ( up to 25 GB )
Once, i had this warning, ( i don't know if my issues deal with that message ) :

xterm executable '' is missing.
You can change this setting in your gnuradio.conf, in section [grc], 'xterm_executable'.

do i have to edit the file :
/etc/gnuradio/conf.d/grc.conf
?

Thanks a lot, good evening .

At first , i started to get very large fifo files in the tmp directory;

this means that you've used the wrong order of execution: you executed the grc flowgraph first, and then executed receiver1

turn off everything

rm /tmp/fifo*

start everything, but this time first use the right order
