Texas City P25 moved main police ops to encrypted/new channel. The change/upgrade was finished yesterday (Oct 25, 2023). I will try to scan for any new group/ID's. Anyone else familiar system have any input about the change/upgrade?

Was it just PD that moved or also fire?

I doubt they’d switch over to DMR, but it could be a possibility. More than likely something else but we’ll have to see.

Fire/EMS no change. I'm seeing zero traffic on Ops1, and I'm starting to see more activity on encrypted Ops2. It's possible they moved EVERYTHING to Ops 2 by default. I don't have a way to scan for other or new frequencies. I'm still on Galveston Simulcast. I don't think they would have moved to the Texas City only tower. I also didn't see any new FCC updates for groups or frequencies in the area. I don't know if anyone here has a way to check into that information?

Could it possibly be a temporary thing? I’d assume there’d be an update somewhere if they moved towers or made a switch to encryption only.

Don’t really know too much though, I’m just bringing up possibilities.

How will that help with them being encrypted now? Or am I missing something???

Can't speak for OP, but for me it's all part of the hunt that makes the hobby fun, just like mapping out the new Duke Energy system that can't be monitored on a scanner (Phase 2 Control Channels) and is totally encrypted. For me, there is more to the hobby than just listening. :ROFLMAO:

Now to find someone really smart to find the new talkgroup and update the RR database. If they actually created a new channel.
I don't think it has to be someone smart , what I would do is , now this will take 2 scanners to do this, on one scanner monitor just fire and EMS and listen for calls that would require police assistance, major accident, combative patient, ECT ,
On the second scanner create a new Galveston site , not one that id from the database, this way you can monitor TGs only without associated alpha tags, listen for PD unit numbers, I believe they are 80xx ? And listen for address that are the same as the fire or EMS call to see if a New PD TG is being used. You can also monitor the activity on the E police channel to see how heavy the traffic is. If it becomes more active at the time fire and EMS need police then it's safe to say they have gone E. If I wasn't working so much I could figure this out and I will try doing this in my time away from work. Maybe I can figure it out

I don't have a way to scan for other or new frequencies. I'm still on Galveston Simulcast.

I don't think they would have moved to the Texas City only tower.

Also, using a single SDR on freq: 773.94375

That guy can be you.

If they are still on the site, and If you know any of the radio id's that they were using, and you set your DSDPlus Encrypted Voice Call Fullowing to Full, you should see any enc tg's on the site your on and be able to verify any new tg they are on.

You could also set the verbose level higher to log more info in the DSDPlus events file for later review.
