Yeah, looks like all police activity moved to ops2.
Is there a way I can have DSDPlus show unknown groups/channels that are speaking? I know that since they are not programed in my groups file, they would not show/be identified.

I'm still very new to this technology, and I'm taking baby steps trying to figure out the basics. Thanks

We were all there once.

See my last post about enc voice following. And any new unknow tg's will show up in your groups file. THey will be the ones with out text in the quotes. You and also set this up.

It will show you all tg's seen in the last 24 hours. That's based on your settings meaning you can set it from 1 minute up to 24 hours.

Texas City P25 moved main police ops to encrypted/new channel. The change/upgrade was finished yesterday (Oct 25, 2023). I will try to scan for any new group/ID's. Anyone else familiar system have any input about the change/upgrade?
I hope they were smart enough to keep a patch to Galveston PD since they work a lot of chases with them and don't isolate themselves from neighboring agencies !

I'm going to give these groups a new alias so that I can monitor them easier. I already turned enc following back on first thing yesterday. That way, even though I can't hear them, I know that something is going down.

These are the most active. Calls per alias. All active in the last hour-6 months. I had that groups file running for the past year.

After monitoring the PD for an hour or so I'm pretty much convinced they are now using channel 2 for main ops/ dispatch. E

How long have you been running DSDPLus on that system and were you running it when the pd was still in the clear? If so, those radio id's may be in your event log.

If you don't delete the event file then the rid's will be listed. THen you can just look in the radios file and see what tg those moved to.

yeah, very little activity on the unknown groups. One was encrypted and one sounded like it was a school. Both very quiet. Agreed with the Friendswood PD scenario.

I don't think it has to be someone smart , what I would do is , now this will take 2 scanners to do this, on one scanner monitor just fire and EMS and listen for calls that would require police assistance, major accident, combative patient, ECT ,
On the second scanner create a new Galveston site , not one that id from the database, this way you can monitor TGs only without associated alpha tags, listen for PD unit numbers, I believe they are 80xx ? And listen for address that are the same as the fire or EMS call to see if a New PD TG is being used. You can also monitor the activity on the E police channel to see how heavy the traffic is. If it becomes more active at the time fire and EMS need police then it's safe to say they have gone E. If I wasn't working so much I could figure this out and I will try doing this in my time away from work. Maybe I can figure it out
TCPD Unit numbers indeed are 80xx
