Was out on one of my many "get out of town and drive the backroads" day trips today, and went near the Gainesville State School in Cooke County. The scanner stopped searching in the 700Mhz band and presented me with a (previously unreported) P25 system on the air. Firing up DSDPlus on the laptop I was able to get quite a bit of information, and despite not having a license, was able to determine it is the School facility (scanner pegged with no antenna attached while driving past the front gate).

The two talkgroups were encrypted (boo) but the radio ID's all align with the state radio plan for state agencies. I have submitted everything I was able to learn to the RRDB, which should update soon, but being this is site 3 (but no neighbors being broadcast), it is likely other facilities may be on the system as well, and those within earshot of them might look for additional sites.

Here's the DSDPlus Data files:

Guess I'll have to listen closer next time I go through Giddings. We have a poster and submitter that has been updating us on the LCRA rollout in Brownwood, maybe he can listen to the Ron Jackson facility there. AFAIK, Gainesville, Giddings and Brownwood are the only three institutions left in the old TYC. Crockett, Sheffield, Pyote and others closed en masse over the last 15 years or so.

According to the state website, there's Edinburg, Gainesville, Giddings, Mart, Brownwood and Odessa (Odessa looks to share facilities with the county). There is a VHF License for Mart already, so its might have switched over as well.

There's also 5 halfway houses and 11 district offices, but I am doubtful they would invest in setting up a site for each of those facilities (they didn't seem to have them before, so I doubt they do now, but I'll check the Fort Worth Halfway House and District Office the next time I'm on that side of the Metroplex.

I'm in Edinburg and they are still using VHF.

I just looked at their website, and main institutional locations are Edinburg, Giddings, Gainesville and Brownwood. I would focus on Giddings and Brownwood since memo124 already checked Edinburg.

Might have found Brownwood.
Unitrunker information enclosed.
Very little audio, much suspicion of encryption.

I added site 1.1. Interestingly enough, they re-use the same 4 frequencies on both sites found so far. Shouldn't be a problem with the way they're spread out.

I found site 1.4 tonight in Giddings. Tower is due north of the CEFCO truck stop in the antenna farm there along US 290. It has been added to the database along with encrypted TG 4000 that was used a few times. This site was using Phase 1 voice, no TDMA observed.
