A little bit late, but down here in Brazos County, a twister touched down just a few miles south of my house at about 330pm Dec. 29 in the middle of College Station. Ruined a McDonalds sign, blew out the bay doors of a car service center, and tore the roofs off of three buildings of an apartment complex. My mom, who was sitting in the living room at the time, said she could hear the sound of the tornado! It was a little bit uncomfortable, but I din't for one second abandon my scanners. It got pretty chaotic down there. I originally heard about the twister when a garbled transmission came in over the VFD freq. When the dispatcher asked the unit to repeat his traffic he was frantically screaming "TORNADO ON THE GROUND IN COLLEGE STATION!!!"
The thing was later rated as an F2. There have been quite a few (weak) twisters that have blasted through Bryan, but not that many in CS (the last was in 2003...compared to Bryan's last one in 2004).
