• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey all so I just picked up a TYT TH-9800 plus radio and I tried doing some programming with the software that was available for download from the Radioddity website under TH-9800 but when I try to read or write from the radio it just gives me a "communications timeout" error. I've been successful programming it from Chirp so I know the radio and cable are fine and it's just a software issue, but I want to use the TYT programming software since you can modify the transmit and receive ranges of the radio. I've been told that there is a specific software for the "plus" model which is not the one available for download from Radioddity and that may be why this isn't working. Does anyone have any insight into this? Haven't been successful finding anything.

Following up on my original post here to close the loop for anyone looking for an answer.

The software provided on Radioddity's website which is labeled for TH-9800 plus and dated most recently for November 2025 simply doesn't work. I talked to someone at Radioddity and they were able to provide me with the original TH-9800 programming software dated 2022 and that worked perfectly fine.

This is the direct download link they sent me: https://radioddity.s3.amazonaws.com/TYT_TH-9800_Software_20220829.zip

This is very annoying. It appears my radio is shot. (replaced once) Two computers, a myriad of drivers, will not communicate with TH-9800 Plus BUT will communicatte with TH9800. Using the TYT cable

this vers does work, but does not give you the needed options for DCS TX and RX like the Newer vers does.

I too am having issues with the 9800 plus radio program that I downloaded from TYT TH website. First, I tried using the disc that came with the radio only to find it contained a group of files and no direction for which to use for programming. I gave up with that.
The 9800-web program has spots to install rec freq's and xmit freq's but no repeater + or - shift. I added the freq's shifts manually to the program and uploaded to the radio. Then operating the radio each channel indicates a +- that indicated it's a split shift. Any thoughts?
