I have been out of scanning since my city went digital about 10 years ago. Sure I could listen to streaming, but I really missed not being able to listen to just my neighborhood. Recently I had enough money and finally bought a digital scanner. I have plenty of experience with scanners but no experience with digital scanners prior to a few weeks ago. I'm too lazy and or cheap to shell out for programming software, besides, I'm retired now and have plenty of time to program the scanner myself, not to mention I enjoy it. Lucky for me there is this great thing called the internet and this great website and the people who infuse it with information. 99.9% of my questions were answered by searching this website without ever asking a question. I now feel comfortable with my digital scanner and I have everyone here to thank for that.

Sincere thanks,

Hi @lemoncurry69 and welcome back as well! This website is an awesome resource and we are glad that you are a part of it. If I may ask, which scanner did you end up purchasing? And you know what? Before long, you will be helping others answer questions about that scanner. So enjoy and great to have you back in the hobby. Cheers! Dave, K4EET

I bought a Whistler WS1040. I've had fun exploring all the tweaks and mitigating multipath (no really).

Very good! Well, if you do come up with any questions that you cannot find an answer for, just remember, no question is too dumb to ask! We want everyone to get the most out of their scanners. Cheers! Dave, K4EET

This place is an invaluable tool for our hobby. Nowhere on the internet is there more information and available data for radio enthusiasts and amateur radio operators than Radio Reference. I hereby nominate Mr Blanton for a Gartner Communications Award. :)
