I am using Butel's ARC-XT program to program my scanner. Tonight I am trying to upload some new information but I am getting this error: Error Creating New Site, No Resources Available.

I do not have all of my banks or channels even close to full. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Joey

I got a question, How do you edit or delete a Quick Save Group? It got saved in the wrong area and I want to delete it. Thanks

MENU --> Program Systems --> scroll to the "Quick Save" group and rename / modify / delete / etc.

You are exceeding at least one limit. From the error message, it sounds like you are exceeding the 256 site / system limit.

I bought my BCD396XT in Feb. and i am having problems hearing the einfield site from Monticello.

Hi all, i am in Monticello which isn't too far from the Enfield site. I have heard a lot of discussion about 'Set Hold Time' and 'Set Delay'. I am not hearing barely anything at all from Wright County, i have all the frequncies entered correctly and usually get poor reception or clipping of only a few words. I am hoping someone on the forum can help me understand if i have something configured improperly. I am running it on ID SEARCH now to see if i can get ANYTHING to come through, which i can't. The antenna bars keep popping up to full but i don't pick up any TGID's...

I don't really know how to explain my problem, if you need more information... i can provide.

Thanks!

I had similar problems with my radio. The reason turned out to be that the site is simulcast. Its hard for scanners to decipher that apparently. I found moving the location of my antenna helped.

If I have a certain frequency I want to monitor, what is the fastest way to start listening to it? Currently if I want GMRS ch. 5, I func+scroll to the GMRS system, then hold, the scroll to the channel I want. Is there a faster way if I know the exact frequency?

Uasd

I am sure a version of UASD is coming soon that will support the BC396XT.

One thing you could do temporarily is to use FreeScan to load your existing BC396T UASD file and then upload it to the BC396XT. FreeScan can read (import) UASD files and can upload to the BC396XT.

See: ScanNow.org - The Home of FreeSCAN!

You mean people actually use UASD?

Currently while monitoring a 700mhz simulcast site on the Starcom system it is impossible to scan while on the road because the scanner is constantly in a 'dead spot'. Any updates on Uniden's progress on improving the 700mhz modulation in P25?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

The problem Isnt "700mhz". The problem is the simulcast part.

We have a 3 tower simulcast DTRS site in Colorado, and I have found a way to improve performance by quite a bit.

In the advanced settings, change the P25 threshold to 001.

icall wildcards

I know there is a way to create a wild card for iCalls during ID SCAN, but can I do something so it only opens up for iCalls for a certain group of radio id's?

For example all Fire radios ids are 15000-15999 and all police are 17000-17999 and thats I all want to hear, I dont want to hear the trash collectors (10000-10999) and others like the utilities folks, etc.

So the question is, how can I create a wildcard that has upper and lower limits on the radio id's?

You Can't. Sorry. You can store and label individual UIDs (RIDs) into memory but that is the extent of the capability of this feature at this time.

Okay, bummer. I was afriad of that.

How about a way that I can hear iCalls from only one specific radio?

For example instead of entering the wildcard of *70000, can I enter *15760 and it will only listen to iCalls from radio ID 15760?

Nope. Sorry I have to keep being the bearer of bad news.
The UID (RID) feature was designed for display ID purposes only.
If you are really wanting to start getting into the more technical side
of radio monitoring you might want to tether your XT radio to one of the Control Channel monitoring programs like Trunk88, Unitrunker, Pro96Com etc.
You will quickly become hooked on seeing all the system activity at your
fingertips.

I hope I'm not out of line bumping an old thread but I have a simple question that doesn't really need its own thread.

Do the emergency light color designations light up the screen all the time when a designated channel is tuned in or does the backlight need to be turned on?

I'm about to upgrade to from the 396t to the XT and I like the idea of different display colors depending on what I'm hearing, but I generally only use the backlight when the unit is plugged in. I don't want it to turn on all the time because I specified a certain color for all the channels.

The emergency light color designation will momentarily override whatever the display is set to. I like to use flashing magenta as my emergency notification. No matter what my display is doing... standard white backlight (my backlight setting) or no backlight at all, if someone hits their emergency button, my screen will flash magenta for about 3-5 seconds.

So the 'alt color' setting only applies when someone pushes their emergency button? I was hoping I could change display color to correspond to certain channels being tuned in.
