• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The 8000 dollar Motorola HT/s. Why?

Restricted sales?? Either you are kidding or you have no idea what you are talking about, or you are trying to come up with something cool to say (again) to boost your ego on RR. I'm not sure which, but I can tell you that APX8000 is, has, and can be had to public safety agencies without contracts and all this other nonsense that you spread here on the forums about these units.

Every such agency has a maintenance agreement with Motorola for their existing and/or new systems. I guarantee it. Besides, the APX8000 hasn't yet been released for regular sales to those customers. It's in demo phase.

I'm tired of going back and forth with you on this. You haven't managed to contribute a single shred of evidence to support your fantasies and nobody has stepped forth to support your position. Your opinion has no support but I can tell you whom to call on the APX developmental team, that is, if they'll even take your call. (Probably not.)

So I'm done with this. You can believe your fantasies and ignore all the information and evidence I've given you and all the examples of parallel practices and business models if you want to. And I will simply continue to shake my head at your unschooled opinion which is pure speculation on your part, supported by zero evidence or logic.

That's that. Good night.

You are all over the place. First, you talk to engineer's and others to form an opinion on the product, then you become a full fledged expert on the product, business practices, and what is needed to purchase the units. I dont kn ow what you want me to prove, other than if you are a public safety agency, please, go talk to your local rep to get pricing and avialability on the unit. Im done as well. Not going back and forth with ego. Goodnight.
