It'll eliminate an island and streamline things in the south county.

South county fire has long been a good group of people - I wonder what'll happen with the company members.

I would not be surprised if the county does not off some of them the opportunity to lateral from CalFire to the county. I do not know how many stations they will pick up. I do t think Santa Clara County is a contract county for SRA land so CalFire might keep some stations in the area too, like the one on 152 east of Casa De Fruita.

That station (Pacheco) is already a CAL FIRE-only station. SSCCFD only has 3 stations:

Station 1 - Morgan Hill (shared with CAL FIRE)
Station 2 - Masten
Station 3 - Gilroy Gardens

I would imagine these 3 stations will transition from SSCCFD (staffed by CAL FIRE) to Santa Clara County Fire, and CAL FIRE will keep all of their existing (non-SSCCFD) stations.
