I must be confused then, because the title of your post is: "Theft security for the SDS100"

There are some cool AirTag holders on Amazon I saw the other day. Might be worth a look see.
YOU are NOT confused. That’s my bad. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Apology’s for that. I started out with one idea, composed the thread title and then went off on another tangent. I could fein the excuse of deliberately using an attention grabbing title to get your attention but I won’t. Looking back on it, I suppose I used “theft” because it’s probably the first thought that pops into view when you realize you are missing something… human nature… we seem to always think the worst.

In my cars, I have console safes installed. Anytime I leave the car I put the SDS100 in it if it's with me (usually is). Seems to be a solid solution for theft security.

This is something I have always done, haven't lost any radios to test the theory but you never know if some honest person will give you a call and let you know they found your radio. I would certainly pay a reward.
Years ago I while monitoring my scanner I heard someone say "Hey dispatch, I just found this radio! I'm in the park with two big greyhound dogs!

No clue was just told that by uniden but they haven't offered any more help sorry
I would bet dollars to doughnuts that Uniden told you that adding a GPS will track where the scanner is AND then select systems to scan.

Which means, the GPS adjusts what the scanner scans based on where the scanner is.

No current Uniden scanner reports where it is in case it is lost or stolen. Period, end of story.

Do people really walk around with a police scanner on their belt? I'm about the biggest dork one could ever meet, but even I don't do this. lol.

I wouldn't necessarily wear it on my belt and have it blaring out radio traffic and attracting a lot of unwanted attention. But belt clips must be popular for a reason--- it seems like a practical place to carry your radio. Add an earphone or a speaker-mike type device up around ear level with an adjustable volume control and you should be good to go.

Best protection I've found for my SDS100 and SDS200, from loss or theft, is to leave them at home, under the watchful eye of a ferocious dog and a more-than-adequate home security system. The SDS200 runs 24/7, while connected to my router and my homemade base antenna. Nearby laptop runs Pro Scan 24/7. Using the Pro Scan web server, I can listen to SDS200 any time, almost anywhere, using my cell phone. The quick keys of the SDS100/200 work extraordinarily well through the web server, so I can easily switch from local, one county coverage, to a coverage area of six southeast Tennessee counties. Cell phone connects easily to my car's Bluetooth, for mobile monitoring.
