thinking about streaming scanner.. sound device for RPi

ok. I'm think out loud here.. I've been thinking about give streaming one of my scanners on here with a Raspberry PI 0w, and was wondering is one of those cheap USB sound cards would work?

Might not be a popular stream with the limited signal option where I live now, but it's more for something to do instead of something really crazy like a pirate radio station lol

Yes, it will work. You will need an adapter as the pi0 doesn’t have a usb A port. The small single board computers nearly all have on-board sound cards but no provision for audio input. I found one a few years ago but that company has gone belly up. Others, like the Nano Pi, have audio input but only from a microphone mounted to the board.
