I need to know reasons to buy, or otherwise NOT buy this receiver.

Is it a scanner? It will scan some programmed frequencies like a regular scanner?
Does it scan trunked systems?

Im interested in P25 VHF and 800 mhz analog Motorola trunked and EDACS.
Does it do this?

From my understanding, its more like a frequency receiver, not a trunking scanner.

Any input would be great. Thx

Check the many threads already in progress regarding the pros and cons of this phenomonal but seriously flawed receiver. Just search on R2500 or PCR2500, or check the Icom forum and you'll find plenty to read.

Ive read plenty about the p25 problems, although they dont pertain to me.

Im just trying to find out if it can act as a trunking scanner, for the trunking systems I want to scan, I cant find any manual for it.

There is only the 1 or 2 threads I can find here on the 2500 model.

Thx for the replies and manuals.

I was reading about TrunkPCR. Is this just a control channel decoder? It wont make the scanner trunk-track?

Thx!

TrrunkPCR will allow your PCR2500 track any 800mhz, UHF and VHF. I use TrunkPCR with my 2500 everyday. Check it out

Hello,I got the R-2500 with the UT-122 digital Board and it works great and I also got the UT-106 DSP Board and it must be the American Models that People have Problem with and in Australia there is no Problems with the Radio and everybody thinks that the Australian Version of the 2500 is better than the American Version and in Australia ICOM are very strict when it comes to selling there Radios and I have been buying ICOM for 22 Years and never had a Problem with there Radios. Some Radio Retailers in Australia do sell the American Version of the 2500 and it is about 400 Dolars cheaper than the Aussie Version but the Warranty is not Valid in Australia so ICOM will not look at the R-2500 if its the American Version and it will cost a lot off Money to get fixed let alone the tme it takes to repair it.

Regards Lino.
