I just heard encryption again on Throton's C-C channel. Only one unit was encrypted, but the other was not. Just FYI

NOOOOOOOO!! I really hope this is just an accident of some kind. How did you know it was encryption?

My BC796 said ENC in the corner. I was monitoring it off of the Golden site, so I know that it is not just a problem on thorodin.

Damn, I wonder what they're using it for. Detectives? Is it possible to get the TG if the traffic is encrypted? I think I remember seeing Greeley TAC-6 before, although I'm not certain.

My scaner had no problem tracking the talkgroup, but half of the conversation was encrypted. If the talkgroup is encrypted, there is no way to monitor it.

What a bummer! Maybe I'm glad I haven't put out MUCHO $$$$ on a new scanner. If they start encrypting the fire & ems, I would really be pissed if I lived in that area!

Their radios are smart enough so that even if one or more units haven't switched on encryption for their transmissions, they can still talk to each other as long as the ones that aren't using encryption have the module in their radios of course.

.... as long as the radios have the modules AND the right encryption key then they will be able to.
