I've only seen 2-3 newsletters. They don't come out very often. I'm not sure if there's a place to read the old ones. A moderator will have the answer I'm sure...

Radioreference does maintain a blog, it is accessed at the top of the page on the extreme right on the menu bar labelled About under the Scanner Master logo.

Here is a link and perhaps your info could be in the archives there?

We are definitely having problems with comcast filtering our emails right now... presumably this started after we sent out the newsletter. There aren't any easy ways for us to contact Comcast right now so I guess you'll just have to be patient. SPAM unfortunately makes it bad for the rest of us...

That clears it up boss. My Comcast bill keeps going up and the service keeps going down.

Your master site
I no longer use Comcast for any primary email service. Everything runs off Google Mail now and with their ability to check external POP accounts it makes it easier to integrate ISP email. The only drawback to Gmail is the strictness of file attachments, which is when I use my ISP address.

Also, if you ever move and still end up with Comcast it can sometimes be a hassle to reclaim your old account since they always set up a new owner account for the transfer.

I'm giving it a try too. Just switched my Radio Ref. account back to Comcast, and hoping for the best!

If I may make a recommendation - Put out some announcement that is directed at all of your readership, or at least directed to the readership of people using the following addresses:

@comcast.net
@aol.com
@live.com
@yahoo.com
@hotmail.com

Your readership needs to be instructed to totally whitelist mails from webmaster@radioreference.com, notify@radioreference.com (and any other email address they are likely to receive RR emails from).

Some ISPs like to rate-limit... Comcast may be one of them, and in fact I'm pretty sure is. They only want to see so many emails coming into their server per-hour and if you go over it, your further emails get 450 deferral or worse a 550 rejection.

A lot of these problems could be alleviated if during signup your new registrants have to read something that makes it perfectly clear that they need to manually whitelist emails from @radioreference.com and that they should NEVER EVER designate an RR email as spam since they are in complete control of whether they receive emails or not just by setting appropriate options in their profile. And it would help to have a sticky global topic that everyonee sees [at least for a while] at the top of their forums which discusses that they need to whitelist @RR.

You're right, RR suffers because of real spammers.. one of those facts of life I guess.

We resolved the issue with Comcast yesterday. All emails should be flowing fine now to Comcast users.

Sorry, didn't see this until after I mentioned the previous post. Although my previous post has its merits :) A lot of people are clueless as to what their ISP does to filter mail, and even more importantly many people are clueless as to how much their input (regarding what they designate as spam or what they designate as whitelisted addresses) affects not only emails from you to them but emails from you to other people using the same service.

Your previous post was very informative. I took it to heart and eliminated a couple radio lists so I don’t get “too much” email, possibly causing me to miss something from Radio Reference!

Once again my email notification has stopped working. If I use my Comcast email address... it doesn't work. If I use a non-Comcast email address... it works ok. Isn't this just Comcastic!?

Switched back to a Comcast email address to test... no notifications. And no... it's not in my spam filter or even the Comcast spam filter. Then switched back to a non-Comcast email address and all works fine. I think I'll leave it alone. :)

Hit and Miss!

I got a notification of the above post from yesterday, but no notification of the 2 others since then. Some days I get them and some days I don't, and that's pretty typical of my Comcastic experience.

Interesting to note around the same time... I'm not getting any Facebook notifications via my Comcast email either. They're not in my spam filter and they never make to to my account at Comcast.net. Comcast has to be blocking these types of emails.
