I am looking for the toledo police freqences I just purchase the 106 radio shack hand held I entered 851.46250 851.48750 . I am not getting any talking on those freqences . I am new to using this scanner
Are these the only freqences I need ? I really need to learn this radio it has alot more then my pro 95. Would it be easier to get the cable and find a script to import the freqences till I can learn the radio ?

Thanks in adavnces for any advice

You have to program the radio for a trunking system not a conv system. Page 33 of the manual walks through how to setup a TSYS (trunking System).

Question Are the parameters here on the website for toledo police and fire ? When they say parameters they mean the freqences I have or the talk ID ?

I read about the talk groups .How do I set mine up like the one they have online so it scans on tgrp. I read page 33 I know how to enter it . I enter tgrp and selected tsys mot 800/900 and added the 800 freqences I got from the online radio when I hit scan after saving I still see everything in conv system when the converstion comes across . what am I doing wrong ? I still am missing something.

The fact that you keep programming in CONV means you need to read up more about trunking. Check the Wiki link above for trunking, read the manual again (concentrate very hard on the trunking section about P25 systems) and then ask if you still have questions.

Ok I am going to read the p25 sections I will hopefully understand what I am doing wrong concentrating
is not an easy thing for me.. I will set it to p25 auto also and try that. I wish I could find a walk through ....;(

Thanks for the help...

The best walk through you can find is to get a programming cable and program the scanner with WIN500 or PSREdit500. This will make your life much easier. With these programs you can download the info for the Lucas County System and program the scanner with very little work on your part.

Feel free to stop into my store and I can show a few things by hand or show how easy it is with win500.

If I were you, I would take Ken up, with his offer. I just purchased a GRE PSR-600 on Monday, and was very intimidated with it, for about a day. That 137 page Manual was just the start of getting a little intimidated.

I read around on this great Forum and purchased the PSRedit-500 software and a subscription to RR.

I have spend a good part of the last couple days, building up my data-base for SW OH.

I have had just a little experience with these new generations of scanners, as I have a trunking RS and a Uniden SC230 for my racing scanner. They both can be programmed by a PC.

Even with the PSRedit500, I got a little careless and lost some of my data-base by not saving my work onto my computer's hard drive and over-wrote the data-base in my GRE a couple of times and lost some prior work I had spent a couple of hours programming. Be sure to save your scanner memory to a V-folder on your scanner, as I assume the RS version uses the V-folders.

It would have been nice, even with software, to have somebody like Ken, walk me through a couple of data entries, as those mistakes and lost data can really get frustrating.

Good luck with your scanner. I really enjoy the MARCS in my area, which was my main reason to go digital. Unfortunately the City of Springfield Police & Fire are encrypted/digital.
