Just heard our DNR in Michigan, talking about a tornado in Boone County, Illinois. Does anybody have any details pertaining to this event?

Tornado

Nothing but a confirmation has been posted on one of our local news websites, but I am sure they will have more information at 5, 6, or 10 on the newscasts. Their website is www.wrex.com

Other local news agencies:
www.rrstar.com
www.wtvo.com
www.wifr.com

I live about 20 minutes west of Poplar Grove in Loves Park. It was pretty windy about an hour ago. My husband said his employer made them go in the tornado shelters and there were 70+ mph winds.

ADDITION: http://www.rrstar.com/homepage/x469069748 Small story about the tornado. It touched down at the apple orchard, which is in a pretty remote area.

ADDITION 2: WREX just reported that 1 or 2 people may be trapped under a collapsed house in Poplar Grove. Unfortunately, significant damage has been reported.

ADDITION 3: Six homes damaged in Poplar Grove http://www.rrstar.com/homepage/x469069748

That tornado warning also effected a portion of Winnebago county where I'm located. Reports were also coming in of a tornado spotted north of where I work in the town of Machesney Park, IL. which is about 5 miles where I work.

So I have a question for those who were monitoring the Hazmat incident just north of Harvard off of 14 and Oak Grove Rd....

I was able to monitor the IFERN frequency, which seemed to be the Net Control frequency for the incident...but as I monitored, units were contacting Net Control on both that frequency, and others. I thought it may be the MABAS frequencies, but when I monitored them, I wasn't able to copy anyone. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

For those who might be interested this tornado has been officially branded an EF3 (Enhanced Fujita)

A young boy and his Grandmother are still in hospital recovering. He should be home soon, she's in the ICU.

The last time this area had a tornado in January was in 1950.
