Toronto EMS using "Code #"

Hi,

I have been noticing lately that Toronto EMS has been using the term "Code 4" to refer to some calls, however that is usually a term used by MoH services. TEMS preferring the Alpha through Echo classification for priority.

In fact tonight I heard a "Delta Code 4" dispatched.

Anyone else have any info on this change?

Yep. MoH has put the pressure on. Also the reason why the trucks are getting 4 digit numbers soon too.

What Dispatch system TEMS is using? AMPDS?

Yep, AMPDS. But, it's a fairly botched implementation of it. They use ProQA, however medics and EMDs aren't fully trained on AMPDS, which is why they don't dispatch the full call info from ProQA. For example, they treat Alpha as the lowest priority and Echo as the highest. That isn't what AMPDS intended. Alpha through Echo isn't a linear scale of importance.

No, and, in fact, Sunstar, Pinellas County FL's EMS, dispatches on A-E and *has the levels posted on their website*:

Has anyone found a feed (on RR or anywhere else) of Toronto EMS? I heard that TEMS can be heard on a feed (outside RR).

I know of someone who once had a feed up for TEMS- but he eventually got a very polite request to take the feed down, and he complied with the request.

I have not heard of one up since than..
