I'm hearing 43 Div on the analog system. They were on skeleton staff during the holidays with several bands patched together because of less dispatchers. Seems like they're back to normal now. 31/32/33 were all dispatched by one person last night.

What type of scanner are you using? It's possible that D43 is patched to another talkgroup and your scanner isn't following the patch correctly.

I have several scanners capable of receiving analog, 346xt, 396xt and two 996xt's... The talkgroup id (4672) is correct in the programming, in fact I havent touched the analog programming in years on these scanners.

I just came home again, and tuned 3 scanners in 43 analog, and one in 43 digital. I have heard some transmissions on analog, but not everything that I am hearing on digital.

Perhaps someone with two scanners capable of testing this can try it.

The older Uniden scanners have a bug with listening to patched groups. You could sit on 4672 all day long and not hear a thing.
Your scanners don't have this bug but if they were non-XT versions, you would have this problem.

Encryption

I assume TPS and TFS are still going to encrypt their signals? Any idea when this will happen?

There has been nothing definitive on either timeframe or encryption.
My guess based on other Regions around Toronto is that police will be enc and fire will be clear... that is only a guess!

Sounds like they may be turning off the 3c08 patch tonight... dispatchers throughout the day have continually read out reminders to dial all radios to zone 11 through 20 and to have the "D" after their division (eg. 31-D31 D)

Yep, can confirm the patch is shut off. 51/53 is coming across P25 but not Analog.

The only reason a talkgroup will come across Analog now is if there's a radio that is still switched onto the Analog system.

It's cool until it starts to garble... then it sounds like crap.

Adding encryption won't case any garbling. If there's a degredation of signal quality, it'll have nothing to do with them being encrypted - only digital.

just wish the tower signal strengths were stronger

They're transmitting with about the same power (I assume) as all the towers are coming in here at about the same strength as the analog system.

What radio are you using, and where are you located?

im using PSR500/600's.im located in south Oshawa approx 1 mile from the lake.i can pickup the east and south towers(analogue)from my home.the only tower i can barely receive on the digital is the east.at my work in north Whitby,i could receive east, south and north towers(analogue) and only the north and east towers(digital).
