You always have to be on sentinel duty with your scanner,things you think may be inactive sometimes prove you wrong. :wink:

Even though the outside workers are on strike, I saw/heard a new talkgroup 17072 pop up tonight around 5:30 pm in the Public Works area of the Toronto Hydro trunk system. Generally PW occupy the 16000's.
Only heard a brief conversation , likely by management.

Yesterday heard staff checking out illegally dumped garbage on Hwy 2A (Kingston Rd ?) on 17072.

I really wish we had an accurate TG list for Toronto Works. That's one of the systems I'd love to monitor but have no idea what's what, except Hydro.

16816 TDSB Security is always active as is all four Hydro geographical dispatch centres.
The traffic signals group is also busy from time to time, and I'm seeing unidentified 16976 and the usual un-ID 17072 used throughout the day.

If RadioReference member mjf happens to read this, I was wondering if you have a half decent talkgroup list for the Works department that you'd share (from your Toronto days).

Heard a new unlisted talkgroup being used today, but in the Hydro group range.

On 2032 heard the user saying : "test..test..test..test..test.."

Will keep an eye on it and try to confirm who is using it.

18736 talkgroup was being used for checking radio coverage.

Unit was at Queen and Lansdowne asking for a radio check with Disco Road .

Salters were on patrol using the 16016 talkgroup.

Don Valley clean up crews can be heard on 16144 (Don Mills) talkgroup.
Heard them calling Toronto Fire about a small grass fire this morning (before the rain) along side the Parkway that was visible to the clean up crews.

I'd love to nail down more groups with the Roads and Transportation guys building the Berlin Wall around the G20 perimeter. :roll:

Also, there are some unnamed yards in the database which are probably: Emery, Disco Road and Commissioner's.

Heard 19024 used this morning.

Essentially ,it was a supervisor asking an employee (summer student, I bet) to collect bacteriological water samples from (a) beach (no location given), to be placed in a cooler and delivered for analysis.

Caught some chatter last night on 448. Short message, maybe two minutes. Though I did catch and interesting callsign:

Actually it was between 9-10 pm. If you go to Disco yell out Fat Dan a few times see what kind of reaction you get ! haha

Are you familiar with any of these ? I've put them in my radio but nothing seems to pop up. The only one was Copperfield Rd (for a split second) with a DCS but I'm no where near that address. 453.7000 is a known TRBO.

I am, but not for anything to do with Toronto Public Works.
Mostly malls and businesses around Toronto are using the 451,452,453, 463 freq's on that list

The 464.1625 looks interesting, though.
Worth a try, I suppose.
