Ok, I admit it so please don't flame me too badly. I have a Uniden HP-1 that is all but silent. I'm in SE Michigan just north of Detroit.

I set the thing to auto-tune and all I get is Southfield PD and few others. I understand OpenSky has basically killed the ability to listen in, but am I missing something? Is there any way to listen to DPD or other municipalities? If not, then I have a nice paperweight. Please be kind, since I do not have a lot of experience with this device. I did go out and register with ARC-Patrol to facilitate a smooth upload of area radios, but I still don't seem to get anything.

For the record I do have a roof mounted antenna.

Am I just stupid? Is there nothing left to listen to?

Where do you live at? Did you download software off of the pc? Check your range and squelch settings, may as lso need to disconnect from roof antenna

I am in central Oakland County. I just downloaded another database (Trunked) from the PC and am about to test it. I will try with both rooftop and rubber ducky.

I think I got it! It took a bit of analytical thinking, but as we all know, we have to be smarter than the machines we are working with.

ARC-Patrol is a good tool. I loaded only trunked systems and filtered it down to wayne and oakland counties. I then went deeper by selecting those talkgroups that I thought would be associated with the sites I selected on the left side of the database chart. What I am not too certain about is the type of system to select. I chose MPSCS, and it seemed fine as long as I selected the sites relevant to my area. So far so good.
