Hello everyone,

Just wanted to ask. There used to be a decent amount of POC call outs on the TOLFD pagers. For a while now, it has been dead silent. Does anyone know if its been shut down as well? Guess we are in the dark again about incidents where we live.

Thanks in advance

Negative , I still here them all the time, your answer is in the question Paid on Call, not every call , we have been in the dark since some bozo @ ecomm decided to encrypt a call to 1234 Main St , (stoopid) dont get me started on the fact that ecomm is fractured all over the map , biggest waste of taxpayers dollars in GVRD + FVRD

Oh, don't even get me started on the ECOMM part, not a fan. I could ramble on about that. Yeah, the only weird part is I've been picking up Paid On Call no problem, until recently. In Aldergrove, I haven't been hearing any calls, which is odd. Not sure if it has become a dead zone.

Thanks for the reply

Not with two transmitters. One off zero av coverage into Aldergrove and one in North. Do you have 154.89 plugged in? That's your muni beside you (no voice usually FVRD, all about the cloak & dagger). They purposely obscure their voices so that the responding unit says say again did not copy. Time to bring on the robo voice for that.

I have the 171.660 with tone 77.0 PL. Always worked well. Haven't heard anything since beginning of September

I just now heard a dispatch Langley Township Fire to an MVA on 171.660 C77.0. I’m across the river. On a side note, there’s a loud hum on the dispatch audio I haven’t hear before.

So on my XPR5550E with a Larsen antenna, I didn't hear it in Aldergrove, as well as on my BCT-15X. I use to hear it before however, on the scanner feed I did. I took a drive to Hall 7 and saw the volunteers come in.

So, they can still hear the pagers. Sounds like Aldergrove is a huge dead spot now.

I just now copied Langley Township Fire dispatched to an MVA 264 TCH on 167.790. Is this the repeater input frequency? Or an additional dispatch channel? A glitch with this scanner prevented me from checking the output on 171.660. I’ve had 167.790 programmed in my scanner as being used by LTF (TAFL) but have never heard it active before.

I was able to pick it up in Aldergrove however, it barely works. I didn't hear it much unfortunately, until I get a bigger antenna. I'm out of luck listening to the township. Where are you listening from?

That sucks. I’m in northwest Maple Ridge. According to TAFL, LTFD is licensed on 171.660/167.790 on the Grant Hill repeater site in East Maple Ridge. I copy the page-outs pretty well full quieting, so I would assume I’m hearing the link at Grant Hill. I haven’t noted anything on 171.660 lately, though I don’t listen to my scanner all the time.

I should mention I have a clear line of sight to the repeater, which is at 1100 ft. Listening on a BC260DN with back of the set antenna.

Update: Just now heard a page-out on 171.660 PL77.0 to vehicle fire 216 St & 76 Ave. And heard it simultaneously this time on 167.790. The latter must be the repeater input. I must be more line of sight to the dispatch transmitter antenna than I thought.

This makes me wonder why you are no longer able to hear the repeater output, but can (barely) hear the repeater input? You didn’t attenuate 171.660 by any chance (have to ask, sometimes we overlook these things)?

Yea, I am not too sure about 171.660, nothing comes in, With the 167.790 I can barely receive it, and half the time nothing. I'm still learning about scanners. What does the attenuate do? It sounds like it should be turned off.

Yes, check your settings for the channel you programmed that frequency into. Attenuation decreases the strength of the signal to avoid overloading the receiver’s front end. Turn it off, if it’s on. And turn off the CTCSS decode. No tone programmed until you’re sure everything is getting through.

However, you said you cannot hear it on either receiver, so it may be some other issue? This is all I can suggest given your description of the problem. Maybe you do just need a better antenna.

It always worked fine before on 171.660 with CTCSS 77. Since September, it stopped working. Attenuator is off and the input freq. I added with no tone. I do have a discone on the way, so hopefully that helps.

Hopefully that will do the trick and you’ll be back in the loop soon. Cheers

Thanks. One thing just popped to my mind. I guess while mobile in my car, I'll probably be out of luck, unfortunately.
