TPD Beat changes Aug 2009

Starting tonight at midnight Tulsa Police officers will no longer be assigned individual beats. Each uniform division will be divided into two "sectors" where a pool of (in a perfect world)10 officers will be assigned to patrol and take calls for service. As far as I know, designators will stay the same, all though there could possibly be some changes in the numerical part of them. All squads will still be in the same division and the platoon system from last year will remain. Sector 1 will be patrolled by Adam and Baker squad, 2 by Charlie and David, 3 by Edward and George, 4 by Frank Henry, 5 by Ida and John, 6 by King and Lincoln. I'll try to find out some updated boundries later but I know Sheridan will still be used for East and Southwest, and 11th st for North and Southwest.

I was a bit anxious about the whole idea, but will say after sitting through an entire shift working the new sectors, there were less calls holding, and they were assigned a lot quicker than they used to be.

Good Deal, maybe now we'll hear less calls with the phrase "Caller has called back complaining about response time" that seemed to be normal the last few months.

Last few months....HA! That was a common phrase heard 10 years ago too.

Hopefully these maps will be added to the database so we won't loose them like the last maps we had.
