Hi Group
I just found out I have to travel to Decatur Ill on Sunsay. I will be entereing from Wisconsin on HYW 39 . Does any body have anny USAD files for Police and Fire freqs. I could program traveliing through the state. A List of counties with cities off of 39 could also be used to program. I realize this is short notice and i am not a member of the Ill group, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

One interesting thing that I can recommend is that you program in and try out the new Illinois "statewide" system. It is not even close to all being up and running, but you should pick up a lot of traffic around Bloomington-Normal where 39 intersects 55 and 74.

Here is a link.

Beyond that just look in the databases. I believe that Decatur is in Macon County.

Coming down I-39 to Decatur will take you through several counties. Some of mention (with cities included that I can remember) :

Winnebago (Rockford, Loves Park)
Ogle (Rochelle)
Lee
LaSalle (LaSalle-Peru, Streator)
Livingston (Pontiac)
McLean (Bloomington/Normal, Heyworth, Hudson)
DeWitt (Clinton)
Macon (Decatur, Forsyth, Mt. Zion)

That is I-39 from the Wisconsin border, in order, to Decatur. I live in B/N and used to drive to Monroe, WI about once a year, so I got used to that highway. When you get into either Ogle or Lee, look for the big wind farm around the interstate. Really cool to look at.

What takes you to Decatur?

A few IL State Police Freq's to monitor:

42.500 MHz - ISP Weather Warnings/Car-to-Car
155.460 MHz - Illinois State Police HF4
155.475 - ISPERN
42.440 MHz and 42.700 MHz (District 16 State Police)
42.460 MHz and 44.700 MHz (District 17 IL State Police)
42.360 MHz and 155.520 MHz (District 8 IL State Police)
42.520 MHz and 42.720 MHz (District 1 & 6 IL State Police)
42.540 MHz and 154.695 MHz (District 10 IL State Police)

LaSalle County uses 155.700 MHz highband at times. LaSalle County SKYWARN spotters use 147.120 MHz repeater in Leonore. McLean County is using Starcom 21 digital comms. Check the RR database for Decatur listings.

A small town about five miles from Decatur had a touchdown that destoryed part of a restaurant.

A couple other parts of Macon County got hit as well, right around Decatur.
