I am thinking about piecing together an Astro Saber to monitor Trenton PD. In a previous post some one mentioned they were running encryption but it wasnt clear if they were confusing VSELP for encryption or not.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I believe it was my post your referring to. I had mentioned how I was not able to recieve Trenton nor Edison on my Pro-2096 citing the 96's inability to monitor a VESELP system along with any scanners inability to monitor an Encrypted frequency. As far as I know the Trenton is not Encrypted.

There is no encryption on their PD talkgroups it is just VSELP .
I would wait until rebanding is done before you put together your Astro just to see what they are going to do.
FuelForFire PM me for further.

Great, thats the answer I was hoping for.

Any idea when they have plans to start rebanding? Will rebanding force them to upgrade to IMBE?

Thanks,

Mike

I would think so because V-Selp is not supported any more. The big M kind of has you there by the throat. Once they stop supporting something you are forced to upgrade to the latest and greatest stuff.
