• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Tricked into buying a xts5000 so might as well do something with it

Will anybody here program a xts 5000 with a bunch of utah public safety and whatever other 800 meg channels for me?? I will pay. Thanks guys
I will ..do you have a letter from each agency allowing you to use their frequencies on their license? That is what you need to program a transceiver by FCC regulations.

You have a great communication tool but it's no scanner. Any radio without keyboard frequency programming is rubbish for scanning.
I agree for the most part. Except for the Icom IC-R6. That's a great little scanner. You just need a cable and programming software for it.

How did you get tricked into buying an XTS? Why don't you just do some research and figure out how to program it by yourself.
Because the eBay market is flooded with 800 Meg stuff and almost for a dime a dozen. No one can legally use them outside of the SMR or Public Safety world.

Some sellers of that equipment don't know anything about what they are selling half the time. They try to sell the 800 Meg stuff as UHF equipment and never say they are 800 Meg stuff. You have to check the model numbers on this stuff, if the 4th character is an "U" or "W", stay away from this equipment.

If they are conventional (non-trunking) I will program them for you at no cost and you pay the shipping both ways and your shipment will need to include the pre-paid return shipping label.
You need to know that I will check the "Receive Only Personality" box for all Part 90.20, Subparts B, R, and S frequencies even if you are a public safety employee/officer.

Still waiting for the often predicted "flood" of cheap APX8000s to hit the market after some agency whose radio department is run by their IT department decides it's time for their regular 3 year tech refresh, replacing BN radios wih new BN radios.

I do want an 8000. Even if I never use it for anything other than VHF.

I thought about investing into the APX series radios but I'm heavily invested in the audio accessories that take the JEDI type accessory connector that are used by the XTS series radios and models all the way back to the HT1000s.

I may dabble in an APX mobile and just keep using my existing non-APX series portables.

This guy is crazy thinking someone is going to program a radio on a trunking system for him without permission. To the OP. Yes it can be done on NAS. However, you will need a sys key. Only sys admin has that. Yes, there is "software" in the wild that can do it. However, you will not find that here. It's illegal to possess. There are other radios in the market that can do what you want without risking transmitting on the system and no sys key required. I would suggest you look into that.
