I am the feed provider for City of Riverside Fire Department. I used to be located in the city of Riverside, at the bottom of the western face to Box Springs Mountain where the antennas are located. In July 2022, I moved locations to the other side of Box Springs Mountain on the eastern slope. 'HeyWhatsThat' seems to show strong signal array for my new location, but I am unable to catch the RFD frequencies except for one. I even bought a new discone antenna and installed on the roof, but no change in reception. The antenna has a direct line of sight to the mountain. I am sure I am overlooking something really dumb, but can anyone help me figure out why my reception is so bad?

the frequencies I am trying to receive are
460.575KQR610RM123.0 PLRIV FD DispDispatchFMNFire Dispatch
460.600KQR610RM97.4 PLRIV FD Cmd 2Command 2FMNFire-Talk
460.625KQR610RM123.0 PLRIV FD Cmd 3Command 3FMNFire-Talk
453.600KQR610M167.9 PLRIV FD Tac 4Tac 4FMNFire-Tac
458.600KQR610M186.2 PLRIV FD Tac 5Tac 5FMNFire-Tac
460.125KQR610M210.7 PLRIV FD Tac 6Tac 6FMNFire-Tac
465.1125KQR610M233.6 PLRIV FD Tac 7Tac 7FMNFire-Tac
460.1125KQR610M103.5 PLRIV FD CMD2ECommand 2 EastFMNFire-Tac
453.425KQR610RM110.9 PLRIV FD RICRapid Intervention Crew (RIC)FMNFire-Tac
460.0875KQR610M88.5 PLRIV FD P RptPortable RepeaterFMNFire-Talk
154.175WNVE264BMCSQRIV FD VHFVHF link to Ch 2 (Multicast w/ CDF)FMNFire-Talk

The only frequency I am receiving is 460.1125 Command 2 East (CMD2E), but it does not seem to hear any of the dispatch traffic. I am using a BCT15X scanner; the same scanner I used in my previous location.

Might they be using the Riverside network at all? I looked in the database and there's a trunked network named Riverside with a Box Springs site but none of the talkgroups have been confirmed yet.

Riverside City Fire Department is a different agency from Riverside County Fire Department. The table that I included in my post shows the frequencies used by Riverside City Fire. It is not a trunked system.

Okay. I thought maybe they could've been using that system sometimes.

Can you hear 460.1125 Command 2 East? Used to work in MoVal and I seem to remember the further east you went, the signal really dropped.

The antennas could be pointing into the city and not into the outer areas of the city. Just a guess I have only scanned them while passing through. My Mom is in the hospital right now in Moreno Valley.

First, I want to thank you for providing the feed. I noticed I wasn't hearing Fire Channel 1 lately.

I'm near the March Air Base right now. I'll do some testing & I'll let you know what I can hear.

appreciate it..... if I need to get a better scanner, or different antenna, I will do what I need to do. I am very frustrated at not being able to provide the best quality broadcast....

Glad to help.

I heard one call get toned out over Fire Channel 1 (460.575.) Clear and full bars. I'm in an office @ roughly Van Buren and the 215.

Using an SDS-100 and mini-magnet multi-frequency antenna. antenna1.PNG

what period of time were you listening? according to PulsePoint, there have been 8 calls dispatched between 9:30 and 10:00 am this morning.

Check and make sure the channels did not get locked out. Got to check everything.
