TRUNKER TALKGROUP AFFILIATIONS

I monitor 3 sites from my location. It's a Motorola Smartzone system and all talkgroups, radio id's are the same, i.e. same files used for each site. Recently one of the sites began displaying some erroneos talkgroups that the radios are affliating to, coincidentally 2 higher than the actual TG. For example the correct two sites show -
EHS 693 296 Af-> 36272 EHS TAC3

The one not displaying properly shows -

EHS 693 296 Af-> 36274 ?

I've asked this question before but never got any conclusive info. Anyone else seeing this. BTW I'm getting a strong decode signal from the affected site.

Could it be something as simple as new TG? Does 36274 show up anyplace else beside in the affiliations?

Is it possible the person has the Emergency Button pressed, or accidentially pressed it?

There's a table in the Motorola Information section on this site that looks something like this:

ID+0 Normal Talkgroup
ID+1 All Talkgroup
ID+2 Emergency
ID+3 talkgroup patch to another
ID+4 Emergency Patch
ID+5 Emergency multi-group
ID+6 Not assigned
ID+7 Multi-select (initiated by dispatcher)
ID+8 DES Encryption talkgroup
ID+9 DES All Talkgroup
ID+10 DES Emergency
ID+11 DES Talkgroup patch
ID+12 DES Emergency Patch
ID+13 DES Emergency multi-group
ID+14 Not assigned
ID+15 Multi-select DES TG


So Talkgroup 36274 would be 36272 with the Emergency Button pressed.

Excellent observation. But, he is seeing the mystery TG in the affilation logs. AFAIK, a radio needs to aff *first* before it can do anything else.

Also, if an emergency button was pressed, Trunker would be flashing that TG/radio ID up in the top half of the screen.

Yeah, I would expect the E to be flashing as well. I guess it depends how the system is set up to handle the emergency button press.

When they affiliate, do they later transmit? And if so, what talkgroup does that show?

Also, with affiliations, "status bits" do not apply. Those first four bits relate to something else but regardless Trunker should ignore them and assume zero when retrieving the group name from the GRP file. I can't recall if Trunker displayed the raw affiliation value or not since no systems I can find use anything other than xxx0 when affiliating.

Whatever has changed it's Trunker that's the cause. I think this was once addressed before but since Trunker isn't being updated....

Thanks for the replies. It is definitely not a new talkgroup and I am just using this one for an example. It's a fairly busy site and MOST every (but not ALL) affiliation is showing +2 from the actual TG. When the radio transmits, it's showing correctly.
I have spoken with another user of Trunker and he found he had to make sure that in the txt file for that site that MAP or TYPE for this Type II system was shown as 22222222 and not just 2. I changed this last night and everything seemed to be working fine on the offending site despite the fact other ones are working fine with just a 2. So if anyone has any other thoughts/ideas etc. I appreciate you passing along the information.
