Does this variable control how trunker interacts with the scanner? If so, what value should I use with a BC796D? I am using BC245 for my BC780XLT. Are there any "issues" if I keep the value for my BC895XLT as BC245 (so I can use the same trackenv.txt for all my radios)?

What the trackscan variable does is it will park your scanner on a non-busy frequency of your choosing when trunker is not tracking ID's. For instance I usually set my trackscan variable to 852.0000 Mhz, so when trunker is not sending your scanner to a particular frequency to listen to, it will park it on 852.0000 Mhz when idle. Otherwise trunker just leaves your scanner on the last frequency it sent it to, and you listen to all sort of non intersting crap that happens to transmit there. I use a BC245xlt, and I know it has no adverse affects what so ever, and it should be exactly the same for the 780xlt as well. There may be a problem if you set your trackscan variable to a frequency a particular scanner will not pick up, but another will. But as long you set your variable to lets say 852.0000 Mhz, there should be no problems at all!

Ha ha! You are so right!! I gatta learn how to read! Thanks for pointing that out. I use the BC245xlt setting in the TRACKSCAN variable with my 250D with no problems. I would imagine that no matter what UNIDEN scanner I let trunker run it would work, because all UNIDEN computer controlled scanners use the same command protocols for their basic functions.
